Organic Baby: Pesticide Residue on Fruits and Vegetables Organic Baby: Pesticide Residue on Fruits and Vegetables
When Is It Okay To Save Money With Conventional Produce?
Find out which fruits and vegetables contain the lowest levels of pesticide residue, and when it's better to go organic for baby.

Thinking about going organic? Wondering if the higher cost of organic produce is worth it?

If you're concerned about the cost or availability of organic produce, start with purchasing organic foods on the GO ORGANIC list below. These are foods whose pesticide residue levels have been proven very high in their conventionally-grown form.

Need to keep your grocery budget in check? Purchase standard produce from the SAFEST NON-ORGANIC foods list. These contain the lowest levels of pesticide residue.

In addition to this list, there's good money-saving rule of thumb to follow: if you have to peel a thick skin in order to get to the produce, choose conventionally-grown over organic.

* Coffee is not on the EWG list; we added this item based on the high concentration of pesticide residue on the beans and the fact that many imported beans have been treated with DDT.
